How to share files with a QR code, with one person or a whole group
Show a QR code, let people scan it with their phone camera, and they have the file. No names, numbers or email addresses to collect. With Whoosp the QR code opens a temporary room where you can drop files, links and messages for up to 10 people at once, and everything disappears when the room closes.
A QR code that points to a cloud link (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive). You upload the file to your account, create a sharing link and turn it into a QR code. It stays valid until you remove it, which suits a poster or a flyer, but anyone with the link can open it, and you need to get the sharing settings right.
A QR code that opens a live room (Whoosp). Nothing to upload in advance and no account: people scan, join the room and see what you send, and they can send files back. When the room closes, the files are gone.
Step by step
Open whoosp.com and click Create a room. The QR code appears straight away.
Show the QR code on your screen or on a projector. To show it again later, tap the link icon at the top of the chat.
People scan it with their phone camera and pick a name. There's no app to download.
Send your files, links and notes. Everyone in the room gets them, and people who join a little later still find them in the chat.
When you're done, leave the room. The last person out deletes it.
In a meeting or a class
A room is handy for handing out slides, a PDF or a link to everyone around the table, and for collecting files back from them, without a group chat or a list of email addresses. People on a laptop without a camera can type the four-character code at whoosp.com instead of scanning.
Limits to know before you rely on it
10 people at a time. Fine for a meeting or a small class. For a talk with a large audience, a QR code to a cloud link on the last slide works better.
15 MB per file. Enough for slides as a PDF, documents and photos, not for long videos.
Temporary. The room is deleted when the last person leaves, or about 20 minutes after everyone has closed it. For anything people need next week, share a cloud link instead.

Common questions
Can people scan the QR code with the normal camera app?
Yes. The camera app on the iPhone and on most Android phones reads QR codes and opens the room in the browser.
Do they need an app or an account?
No. They open the room in their browser and choose a name.
Can they send files back to me?
Yes. Everyone in the room can send files and messages, so it works for collecting documents too.
Is the QR code still valid tomorrow?
Only while the room exists. Each new room gets a new code and a new QR code.
